Accelerated Reader 8

Length of Class: Year (both 1st & 2nd semesters)

Grade Level(s): 8th Grade

Accelerated Reader is a part of the LJHS daily schedule to provide quality time to increase student reading abilities. Teachers provide a classroom environment and routine to promotes an efficient use of time and means of monitoring students academics and identifying struggling students early. Teachers will conference with each student on a regular basis in order to become very familiar with reading progress and their reading habits.  Students will take notes on the non-fiction articles and will be allowed to use the notes and the book when taking the AR test. Students are encouraged to take notes on the non-fiction books, but it is optional. All AR tests are taken in class and grades will be based in part on student reaching their AR goals.
