Through this course, students will investigate and understand major events in American history. Events are covered in sequence beginning with the Civil War and Reconstruction and covering the following major world events: the Industrial Age, Immigrants and Urbanization, WWI, the Great Depression and the New Deal, WWII, the Cold War, Civil Rights, the Vietnam experience, and the role of the United States in today’s world. This course will also cover Montana’s geography and history including the journey toward statehood, Native American relations and major economic topics such as: farming, ranching, mining, logging and homesteading.
